JANELLE BUCHANAN* (Lucille) – AT ZACH THEATRE: The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later; August: Osage County, Our Town, The Grapes of Wrath, Doubt, Omnium-Gatherum, The Laramie Project (2002 & 2012), Abundance, The Last Night of Ballyhoo. REGIONAL THEATRE: Man and Superman and An Ideal Husband with Austin Shakespeare; Ah! Wilderness at St. Edward’s University; Laughing Wild, A Delicate Balance, Dancing at Lughnasa, Death and the Maiden, Marie and Bruce, Sonny’s Last Shot and the world premiere of Tennessee Williams’ newly discovered Spring Storm. Buchanan was a founder of Big State Productions and co-writer and performer in the company’s long running hit In the West, which played almost every venue in Austin, many across Texas and at the Kennedy Center. Janelle is a veteran Austin actress with dozens of stage productions to her credit, as well as numerous film, commercial, industrial and print projects. AWARDS: The recipient of many B. AUDREY HENDERSON (Emily) – Is making her first appearance at ZACH in this production. REGIONAL THEATRE: Anne Frank in And Then They Came for Me: Remembering the World of Anne Frank at the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts. Other credits include A Streetcar Named Desire (Taylor University Theatre Best Female Lead and The Kennedy Center ACTF Irene Ryan Nominee), Crimes of the Heart (Taylor University Theatre Best Lead), The Taming of the Shrew, The Odd Couple, Thoroughly Modern Millie and the world premiere of Eve’s Daughters in Sydney, Australia.

JOEY HOOD (Son) – Is making his first appearance at ZACH in this production. REGIONAL THEATRE: The Aliens for Hyde Park Theatre, Watch the Gap, by choreographer Ellen Bartel, and Static, a play by Tom Horan as part of UTNT. The Atheist for Hyde Park Theatre, (Austin Critics’ Table Best Actor Award), The Collection, Bombs in Your Mouth, The Water Principle, The Glory of Living (Austin Critics’ Table Nomination Best Actor) and Blur (B. Iden Payne Nomination Best – Supporting Actor in a Comedy). Stadium Devildare, Cherry Wood and Have You Ever Been Assassinated? for Rude Mechanicals. He recently finished work on choreographer Jennifer Sherburn’s 90 Knots, for Fusebox Festival. He has been active in the Austin theatre community for almost 15 years now. He is a native of Hattiesburg, Mississppi where he attended the University of Southern Mississippi. After a radio career spanning 40 years, mostly in Austin as a #1 rated morning show personality, last November David was inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame.

KEYLEE KOOP (Irene) – Is making her first appearance at ZACH in this production. REGIONAL THEATRE: Around the Circle, Frontera at Hyde Park Theatre; The Little Dog Laughed, Austin City Theatre; Early Girl, Salvage Vanguard Theatre; Buried Child, Austin City Theatre; PINKERTON!, Dallas Children’s Theater. AWARDS: National recipient of Margolis Physical Theatre Apprenticeship at the 2012 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in Washington, D.C. Keylee recently graduated in May 2012 with a B.F.A. in Acting from Texas State University.

EUGENE LEE* (Doug) – AT ZACH: The Book of Grace written and directed by Pulitzer Prize winner Suzan Lori-Parks and God of Carnage. Mr. Lee’s career as an actor goes back as far as a command performance of a University Drama department production of A Raisin in The Sun for President Lyndon Johnson on his Texas ranch in 1972 and television episodes of Dallas, Good Times, The White Shadow, The Guiding Light, playing coroner Hud Sanders on The District, the mini-series The Women of Brewster Place with Oprah Winfrey, The Jackson Five: An American Dream and recent features Blacklisted and Coach Carter. On the professional stage, as far back as the original cast of Pulitzer Prize-winning A Soldier’s Play by Charles Fuller with the Negro Ensemble Company to a Broadway appearance in August Wilson’s Gem of the Ocean. He performed on stages including the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. (2008) performing in 5 of the 10 August Wilson Century of plays and Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre’s production of August Wilson’s Two Trains Running, Boston’s Huntington Theatre’s Fall 2009 production of Fences and the Fall 2010 world premiere of Marcus Gardley’s every tongue confess at Arena Stage in D.C. Other Negro Ensemble Company appearances include Samm Art William’s Home, Ray Araanha’s Sons and Fathers of Sons and Gus Edwards Manhattan Made Me. He was Sterling in Boston’s Huntington Theatre’s staging of Radio Golf and Eli in their Broadway bound production of Gem of The Ocean, as well as the True Colors Theatre Company in Atlanta’s productions of August Wilson’s Fences, Lonne Elder’s Ceremonies in Dark Old Men and Miss Evers’ Boys. He has also created characters on the page as a playwright with East Texas Hot Links, Fear Itself, Somebody Called: A Tale of Two Preachers, Killingsworth. His latest work Lyin’ Ass takes a look at one of the first Black female Texas Rangers as she is about to retire, and the musical Twist and he also worked on episodes for television series including Homicide: Life on the Streets, Walker Texas Ranger, Michael Hayes, The Turks and The Journey of Allen Strange. Mr. Lee serves as Artist in Residence and Artistic Director of the Texas State University Black and Latino Playwright’s Conference. He performed recently at Texas State playing Jaques in Shakespeare’s As You Like It. Mr. Lee plays the title role in the independent film Feature Wolf, which was a standout at the 2012 SXSW Film Festival in Austin and took the prestigious Grand Jury Award in the Texas Competition for Best Film at this year’s Dallas International Film Festival. www.eugeneleeonline.com

MARIJANE VANDIVIER* (Stella Gordon) – AT ZACH Theatre: Always, Patsy Cline (Louise). Mj is a professional Equity actress with over forty years of practical experience in theatre, television, radio and film work. She studied at The American Theatre Wing in NYC and holds a B.S. in Psychology and Theatre from The University of Houston. Vandivier is a certified Lessac Voice / Body Teacher. Mj traveled singing in Vegas, Reno, Tahoe, LA, New Orleans, ending in Houston where she took up residence and embarked on a successful 30 year TV career. Many Texans grew up with her popular KPRC-TV children’s shows: Happy Hollow and Marijane’s MagiCastle, followed by her long-running talk/news show, Wake-up Houston on KUHT-TV. She also worked in the commercial field and on radio. Marijane performed in Houston at the Alley Theatre, Theatre Under the Stars, Houston Music Theatre and with the AD Players. Mj had the pleasure of working with Horton Foote in his play The Traveling Lady for Baylor University followed by performance in NYC at The Actors Studio. Ten years ago, Mj moved to Austin to be with family. She has continued to act professionally at St. Edward’s Mary Northern Moody Theatre, ZACH Theatre, Austin Playhouse, Tex-Arts Theatre and in films. Vandivier has taught at the St. Edward’s University and currently teaches at the State School of Acting and for private clients.

About the Artistic Staff

STEVEN DIETZ (Director) – is honored to direct Horton Foote’s beautiful play at ZACH, where he has previously directed John Patrick Shanley’s Doubt and his own plays, Shooting Star (world premiere) and Becky’s New Car. Mr. Dietz’s work as a director includes numerous world-premiere productions at theaters such as Actor’s Theatre of Louisville’s Humana Festival of New American Plays, Westside Arts (Off-Broadway), Seattle Repertory Theatre, ACT Theatre, Northlight Theatre (Chicago), the Denver Center Theatre Company, San Jose Rep, City Theatre Company (Pittsburgh), and the Sundance Institute. He was a resident director for ten years at the Playwrights’ Center in Minneapolis, where he also served as Artistic Director of Midwest PlayLabs. Mr. Dietz’s latest play, Mad Beat Hip & Gone, will premiere next season in ZACH’S new Topfer Theater. He is married to playwright Allison Gregory, and their family divides its time between Seattle and Austin – where he teaches playwriting and directing at UT.

CLIFF SIMON (Set Design) – has designed at the Truck and Warehouse Theater, the Lamb’s Club, Playwright’s Horizons, T. Schreiber Studios; at the George Street Playhouse in New Jersey; the Cleveland Play House; for Tapestry Dance Company, Rude Mechanicals, Zilker Theatre Productions and for University of Texas in Austin; the Riverside Theatre in Vero Beach, Fla; the Bigfork Summer Playhouse in Montana; and in Birmingham at BFT, Birmingham Children’s Theatre and at UAB, where he teaches Scene Design. Seven of his digital designs are to be part of the permanent collection of the Lore Degenstein Gallery in Susquehana, Pa. He has also, since the seventies, been designing edibly painted cakes for the likes of Diana Ross, Madonna and his mother Lil. So happy to be at ZACH again.

CRAIG BROCK (Sound Design) – A freelance audio engineer since 1989, he also works as a recording engineer and music producer. At ZACH Theatre: The Laramie Project, The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later, Next to Normal, Rent, Metamorphoses, The Drowsy Chaperone, Becky’s New Car, Our Town, Flaming Idiots, Spelling Bee, Love, Janis, The Grapes of Wrath, Let Me Down Easy, Shooting Star, Caroline, or Change, The Clean House, Altar Boyz, Porgy and Bess, Speeding Motorcycle, High School Musical, Jesus Christ Superstar/Jesucristo Superestrella, Take Me Out, Rocky Horror, I Am My Own Wife, Urinetown, Hank Williams: Lost Highway, Rockin’ Christmas Party, and The Santaland Diaries. BLAKE REEVES (Properties Design) – AT ZACH THEATRE: The Laramie Project, The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later, Next to Normal, God of Carnage, Spring Awakening, Hairspray, The Book of Grace, August: Osage County, Fiction, Red Hot Patriot: The Kick-Ass Wit of Molly Ivins and Rent. Blake has also worked with ZACH’s production team in numerous facets for The Santaland Diaries, The Drowsy Chaperone, Metamorphoses, Becky’s New Car, Our Town and The Flaming Idiots. In addition to production work, he performed with the award-winning cast of Our Town. Blake attended Baylor University and, during his time as a student, he designed, choreographed and performed in a number of productions. He later returned to serve as the Coordinator of Special Performances for the university, producing and designing several shows. He also provided prop design for Footloose with Zilker Theatre Productions this summer. Blake is a proud member of the Society of Properties Artisan Managers.

WILLA KAYE WARREN (Wig & Hair Design) – has designed hair for ZACH’s productions of Hairspray, Spring Awakening, August: Osage County, The Drowsy Chaperone, Caroline, or Change, Keepin’ It Weird, Hank Williams: Lost Highway, Aida, Cabaret, Always…Patsy Cline, Beehive, Smokey Joe’s Cafe, Dirty Blonde, Hair, Little Shop of Horrors, Jelly’s Last Jam, Master Class, Jouét, A Streetcar Named Desire, Evita, The Rocky Horror Show, The Mystery of Irma Vep, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Angels in America, Tommy, Blues in the Night, The Taffetas, The Piano Lesson, Jack and Jill, Ruthless! PAUL FLINT (Director of Production) – joined ZACH Theatre in 2008. He earned his B.F.A. from Shorter College and M.F.A. from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, with a focus on Technical Direction, Scenic Design and Arts Management. His theatre credits include the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, Ga., Glimmerglass Opera in Cooperstown, New York, Vitalist Theatre Company in Chicago, IL., and he is a founding member of Seaside Repertory Theatre in Seaside, Florida. Paul is the author of Managing the Creative Mind: A Technical Director’s Process.

BLAIR HURRY (Costume Shop Manager) – grew up in Austin and studied Costume Design & Technology at the University of Texas. Her costume design works at ZACH Theatre include Red Hot Patriot: The Kick-Ass Wit of Molly Ivins, Metamorphoses, Shooting Star (2009-2010 Season), Farm to Market and Call It Courage (ZACH’s Performing Arts School). Other local designs include Vampyress (Vortex Theatre), Parade: A Musical (St. Edward’s University), The Famous Rio Grande, The Trojan Women and Cabaret (University of Texas). Prior to ZACH, she built costumes for the Williamstown Theatre Festival, The Ohio Light Opera Company and STAGES: St. Louis. She also worked as Head of Wardrobe and Make-up for the national tour of Playhouse Disney’s The Doodlebops LIVE! and the 2008 national tour of The Moscow Ballet’s The Great Russian Nutcracker. She is currently an active member of the local 205 IATSE union.
