Playspace is a series of interactive plays created specifically for children ages 3-7. Offered at the theatre on select weekdays, Playspace performances are the perfect way to introduce live theatre to children. The shows are ideal for pre-schools, K-2nd, childcare groups and parents with young children.

The original plays combine elements of creative drama and story-telling with the child’s own imagination to create unique performance pieces.

RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED
• School groups are encouraged to make reservations for the entire year as space fills quickly.
• Weekdays, 9:30 AM &/or 11:00 AM. Call to confirm available show dates and times.
• Tickets are $6 per child, (except Holiday Heroes at $7)
• Teacher FREE with class.
• PRESCHOOL and PLAYGROUPS are always welcome.
• Shows are on ZACH Theatre's Kleberg Stage, Riverside at South. Lamar

Mariposa, October 6-31

A Mexican tale about the beautiful Monarch butterflies that spend their summer in the US and Canada, and Mariposa the beautiful monarch is making her way toward Mexico to find her family at the Dia de los Muertos celebration.  Join her as she meets all kinds of characters along the way, and explore fun science concepts such as the life cycle of the butterfly, migration, and more.  Children encouraged to make and or/ wear butterfly wings to the performance- as we create the Oyamel Forest during the show!

Holiday Heroes December 1-19
Written and played by Shaun Wainwright-Brannigan and Jerome Schoolar (of Biscuit Brothers)

The ever-popular Holiday Heroes explores different holiday traditions like Hanukah, Kwanza, Christmas and more. As the two bumbling stage hands ready the set of a Big Holiday Show, they discover the trappings of the different traditions in the prop box and incorporate them into a musical tribute to the season.

Home Sweet Home, February 16-March 13

Hammers and saws fly as The Bird family is busy fixing up their nest on a Saturday morning.  Young Marking Bird would rather be anywhere but at home, doing chores on a Saturday.  He decides to fly far away, but soon discovers there's no place like home.  A warm hearted celebration of the meaning of home.

Clap your hands and tap you toes as you go on a journey through jazz with the Be Bop Cat.  Meet Teddy Trombone, Saxophone Sam, plus discover all kinds of ways to make music.  From home, to the playground, to the school and more, the Be Bop Cat explores his neighborhood and shows us that rhythm is everywhere.
