"The city's liveliest and most polished professional theater." - The Statesman
Project Discovery at ZACH
Project Discovery provides students and educators with subsidized tickets to our mainstage productions, and organizational support for hundreds of students (middle-school through college) who otherwise may never attend a theater event.
With Project Discovery, ZACH joins outstanding theater organizations around the country in an effort to bring a new generation of patrons to the theater and to offer youth a better understanding of the important and powerful role creative expression can have in their lives.
Some of our accomplishments:
- In Spring 2009, students attended ZACH's adaptation of John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath.
- On January 24th, 2008 Project Discovery gave Ten LEAP students the opportunity to see ZACH’s version of The Gershwins' masterpiece, Porgy and Bess. The response was a resounding "thumbs up"!
LEAP wrote to thank ZACH Theatre for the ticket contribution and support of the LEAP students:"I liked the part when they used objects to create musical sounds."
–Marcus, age 16 McNeil High School
"I enjoyed the music the most."
– Keith, age 16 LBJ High School - In Summer 2007, Austin's Sunshine Camp kids were treated to a preview performance of Disney's High School Musical at ZACH.
Financial assistance for school performances is available based upon the school's need and "at-risk" enrollment.
